Abstract
I will present a bit of the history behind how NanoLund, started in 1990, has become a leading center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in Sweden and Europe. Specifically, I will talk about nanomaterials research, including development of the field of semiconductor nanowires, both as a fundamental materials physics topic and as a means of creating ideal low-dimensional materials for physics and applications. Of special interest in recent years has been our approaches towards realization of ultra-bright Red-, Green- and Blue-emitting microLEDs, for pixels down to sub-µm in size, as required for realization of Augmented Reality (AR) display applications. Finally, I will describe the intentions of my new center at SUSTech, where we are creating a highly international Institute for Nanoscience and Applications, INA.
Biography
Lars Samuelson is since 1988 Professor at Lund University and since 2021 also Chair Professor at SUSTech, Southern University of Science and Technology, in Shenzhen, China and Dean of the Institute of Nanoscience and Applications, INA.
