Abstract
In 2018, the semiconductor industry in China experienced a sudden surge in popularity due to the trade war. This sparked a wave of interest in microelectronics-related majors and careers. Now, four years later, the initial frenzy has given way to a more rational understanding of the industry’s potential. As the market adjusts, we must ask ourselves: who will emerge as winners and who will be left exposed? In this lecture, we will explore the field of microelectronics in China from the perspective of foundries. We will provide an overview of the chip manufacturing process, including the entire ecological chain behind it. By the end of this lecture, you will have gained valuable insights into the applications and markets of microelectronics in China. Perhaps you will even be inspired to dive headfirst into this exciting industry.
