Abstract
The talk will consist of a brief introduction to the representation theory of quivers, one of the central parts of the algebraic theory of representations of algebras and, at the same, one that is easily understandable with some knowledge of linear algebra. We will present some of the problems that the theory tries to solve, and some of its important results.
Biography
Mariano Suárez-Álvarez joined the Department of Mathematics at GTIIT as a Visiting Professor in March 2023. He obtained a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina), is a professor at the Math Department of Facultad de Ciencias Exactas, Universidad de Buenos Aires, and a researcher at IMAS (CONICET-Argentina) He has supervised two Ph.D. theses and is currently supervising one more.
His main research interest is homological algebra and, in particular, the study of Hochschild cohomology and its rich algebraic structure, and the application of that theory to representation theory and geometry. He has published 13 papers both as a single author and as a collaborator, and a undergraduate textbook on algebra.
