Industrial microbial strains, enzymes, and bioprocess engineering technologies\/equipment form the three pillars of biomanufacturing, among which the design, construction, and application of industrial strains with independent intellectual property rights are critical to success. Despite advances in systems and synthetic biology that have enhanced our understanding of chassis cells and enabled cell factory engineering, significant challenges remain in developing robust industrial strains with high yield and stability. This presentation will take <em>Zymomonas mobilis<\/em> \u2014 a non-model industrial ethanologenic bacterium with unique advantages \u2014 as an example to address key challenges in reprogramming and applying high-performance strains. Topics will include: Foundational requirements for strain reprogramming, such as fundamental biological knowledge, standardized genetic elements, and efficient genome editing tools (e.g., multi-omics data integration). We will also use anaerobic production of bulk platform chemicals from diverse feedstocks via engineered <em>Z. mobilis<\/em> as a case study to provide insights into the rational design of next-generation microbial cell factories for sustainable manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>\u5408\u6210\u751f\u7269\u5236\u9020\u6709\u52a9\u4e8e\u73af\u5883\u4fdd\u62a4\u4e0e\u53cc\u78b3\u76ee\u6807\u7684\u5b9e\u73b0\uff0c\u4e5f\u662f\u5b9e\u73b0\u751f\u7269\u7ecf\u6d4e\u53ef\u6301\u7eed\u53d1\u5c55\u7684\u91cd\u8981\u9a71\u52a8\u529b\u3002\u5de5\u4e1a\u5fae\u751f\u7269\u83cc\u79cd\u3001\u9176\u3001\u751f\u7269\u8fc7\u7a0b\u5de5\u7a0b\u6280\u672f\u548c\u88c5\u5907\u662f\u751f\u7269\u5236\u9020\u7684\u4e09\u5927\u652f\u67f1\uff0c\u800c\u5176\u4e2d\u5177\u6709\u81ea\u4e3b\u77e5\u8bc6\u4ea7\u6743\u5de5\u4e1a\u83cc\u682a\u7684\u8bbe\u8ba1\u3001\u6784\u5efa\u4e0e\u5e94\u7528\u662f\u5408\u6210\u751f\u7269\u5236\u9020\u6210\u529f\u7684\u5173\u952e\u3002\u5c3d\u7ba1\u7cfb\u7edf\u4e0e\u5408\u6210\u751f\u7269\u5b66\u7684\u53d1\u5c55\u63a8\u52a8\u4e86\u5e95\u76d8\u7ec6\u80de\u7684\u7406\u89e3\u53ca\u7ec6\u80de\u5de5\u5382\u7684\u6784\u5efa\u4e0e\u5e94\u7528\uff0c\u9ad8\u4ea7\u7a33\u4ea7\u5de5\u4e1a\u83cc\u682a\u6784\u5efa\u4f9d\u7136\u9762\u4e34\u8bf8\u591a\u6311\u6218\u3002\u672c\u62a5\u544a\u5c06\u4ee5\u5177\u6709\u72ec\u7279\u4f18\u52bf\u7684\u975e\u6a21\u5f0f\u5929\u7136\u4e59\u9187\u751f\u4ea7\u5de5\u4e1a\u83cc\u682a\u8fd0\u52a8\u53d1\u9175\u5355\u80de\u83cc\u4e3a\u4f8b\uff0c\u63a2\u8ba8\u9ad8\u4ea7\u7a33\u4ea7\u5de5\u4e1a\u83cc\u682a\u91cd\u7f16\u7a0b\u4f18\u5316\u53ca\u5e94\u7528\u8fc7\u7a0b\u9700\u8981\u89e3\u51b3\u7684\u95ee\u9898\uff1b\u5305\u62ec\u5b9e\u73b0\u91cd\u7f16\u7a0b\u4f18\u5316\u6240\u9700\u7684\u4fe1\u606f\u57fa\u7840\u3001\u5143\u4ef6\u57fa\u7840\u53ca\u9ad8\u6548\u57fa\u56e0\u7ec4\u7f16\u8f91\u5de5\u5177\u7684\u5efa\u7acb\u4e0e\u5e94\u7528\uff1b\u4e5f\u5c06\u8ba8\u8bba\u6539\u9020\u8fd0\u52a8\u53d1\u9175\u5355\u80de\u83cc\u4f7f\u5176\u5229\u7528\u591a\u79cd\u539f\u6599\u538c\u6c27\u751f\u4ea7\u5927\u5b97\u5e73\u53f0\u5316\u5408\u7269\u7684\u8fdb\u5c55\u3002<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0b71c6\"><b>Bio<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Shihui Yang, Ph.D., is a Distinguished Professor (Second Level) and Doctoral Supervisor at the College of Life Sciences, Hubei University. He is a recipient of the State Council Special Allowance for Experts, a candidate supported by the National High-level Overseas Talent Program, a Distinguished Professor under the Hubei Provincial Key Talent Program, a key expert in Hubei Province, and an entrepreneurial talent under the \u201cOptics Valley 3551 Talent Program.\u201d He serves as a council member of the China Association for Bio-fermentation Industry, a member of the Biochemical Engineering Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society, a member of the Molecular Microbiology and Bioengineering Committee of the Chinese Society for Microbiology, and a member of the Second Subcommittee of General Rules under the National Standardization Technical Committee for Technological Product Files. Additionally, he is the Vice President and Secretary-General of the Hubei Synthetic Biology Society and a council member of the Hubei Society of Bioengineering.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Yang obtained his bachelor\u2019s degree in Biology from Hubei University in 1993, earned his master\u2019s degree in Microbiology from Wuhan University in 2000, and received his Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of California, Riverside in 2005. He has held positions as a Research Associate at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (2007\u20132011) and as a Staff Scientist at the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (2011\u20132016).<\/p>\n<p>Since joining the College of Life Sciences at Hubei University at the end of 2016, his research has focused on microbial metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, and bioenergy and green biomanufacturing. As a principal investigator, he has led numerous national and provincial projects, including key R&amp;D Programs in synthetic biology sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology and projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Yang has published over 120 papers in high-impact journals such as Nature Biotechnology, Nature Communications, PNAS, Nucleic Acids Research, and Trends in Biotechnology. His work has been cited more than 5700 times with H-index of 43. He holds 9 granted invention patents in the United States, 28 granted invention patents in China, and has transferred 17 patents. Additionally, he serves as co-editor-in-chief of Biodesign Research and as an editor or editorial board member for journals including Trends in Biotechnology, Synthetic Biology, and Chinese Journal of
