Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT), China & Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Israel.
The Dissolved Organic Matter (DOM) Program (group of Keke Xiao) is looking for 2 PhD and 2 Master students to conduct research projects in dissolved organic matter.
Dissolved organic matter has received considerable attention from many scientists of different disciplines. In environmental samples, the presence of dissolved organic matter may affect the biodegradation efficiency and the complexation ability with heavy metals and pollutants. As with many other areas of research, the progress made in one discipline may be limited by the current techniques, knowledge, or even dogma of another. Hence, Dr. Xiao seeks to understand (1) the characteristics of dissolved organic matter in different environmental samples; (2) current techniques for the determination of dissolved organic matter in environmental samples; (3) the influences of dissolved organic matter on the biochemical process during sludge and or wastewater treatment; (4) the relationship between dissolved organic matter and microbial community as well as soil fertility.
The Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) is the satellite campus of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (Technion). Technion is a world-renowned institution located in Haifa (Israel) that is consistently ranked as a top-100 university and is known for its exceptional research and education. The GTIIT is based in Shantou (Guangdong Province, China) and will become a leading science and technology research university in the coming years.
