The Environmental DOM Biogeochemistry Lab is looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated and competent Master students to conduct experimental research projects in the area of dissolved organic matter (DOM) dynamics in the aquatic environments. The successful candidate will pursue his/her own research within the field and also work in a team of students and researchers. Contract duration: 1-2 year.
Our lab is interested in the studies of DOM sources, transformations, and dynamics in diverse aquatic as well as sediment and soil environments, utilizing various cutting-edge advanced techniques such as 3D fluorescence excitation emission matrix coupled with parallel factor analysis (EEM-PARAFAC) and high-resolution Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR-MS). We plan to integrate with chemometrics approach to investigate DOM characteristics and dynamics in the environments.

– Four-years Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) (essential)
– Strong background in environmental science or biogeochemistry research (preferable)
– Experiences in using advanced optical and MS instruments and large-scale data analysis (preferable)
– Familiar with softwares such as MatLab and ArcGIS. Strong computing skills (preferable)
– Strong interest to work temporarily overseas in Israel (essential)
– Good communication skills and fluent oral and written English (essential)
– Ability to work both independently and in a team environment (essential)
– Ability to author scientific reports and co-author scientific publications (essential)
