It awards Bachelor's degrees (triple certificates: GTIIT graduation certificate, GTIIT degree certificate, and Technion degree certificate), Master's, and Doctoral degrees (Technion degree certificate, recognized as an overseas degree). GTIIT is the first Sino-foreign cooperative university in China with independent legal person status to introduce high-quality Israeli higher education resources, and it represents a flagship project of educational cooperation between China and Israel. The university fully introduces the high-quality educational resources of the Technion \u2013 Israel Institute of Technology. The Technion is responsible for the recruitment and management of academic staff, who hold dual appointments at both GTIIT and the Technion. Approximately 60% of the faculty are seconded from the Technion, and over 80% are international scholars. Since its establishment, GTIIT was included in Guangdong Province's \"High-Level University Development Program\" in its second year, making it the youngest university selected for this program. Professor Xu will join GTIIT, as an Associate professor of Guangdong-Technion Chemical Engineering program in Spring 2021. He was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemical, Biochemical and Environmental Engineering at University of Maryland Baltimore County from 2016 to 2020. He obtained his PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (2013) and completed his postdoc training in the Stephanopoulos lab at MIT (2016).\r\n\r\nDr. Xu has received a number of awards and recognitions, including the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad (2012), the Bill & Melinda Gates Award (2018), the Biotechnology & Bioengineering (B&B) Daniel IC Wang Award (2020). He served in the editorial board for the journal Metabolic Engineering<\/em> (IF = 7.3) and the journal Current Opinion in Biotechnology<\/em> (IF = 8.3).
