Biomedical research plays a fundamental role in promoting global human health. The convergence and amalgamation of medical research with chemical, physical, computational, and mathematical sciences, and various engineering disciplines has been envisioned since 2011 as the third revolution of the 21st<\/sup> century. The vision of GTIIT-SEHM is to bring together top-notch researchers in all areas of fundamental and applied sciences including materials, biomechanical, chemical, food and biomedical engineering, biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences, nanotechnology and nanomedicine, and other associated research disciplines to tackle global challenges in health and well-being in one single environment that promotes cutting-edge multidisciplinary biomedical research. The main research areas at the GTIIT \u2013 SEHM are:<\/p>\n

A. Bio-Mechanics and Medical Devices and Robotics<\/strong><\/p>\n

The area of Bio-Mechanics and Medical Devices and Robotics hosts research groups working in Computational Biomechanics, Additive Manufacturing of Medical Devices and Robotics, Mechanical Testing of Materials, Fluid Mechanics, Bio-transport Phenomena and Microfluidic Biosensing Devices.<\/p>\n

B. <\/strong>Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in Disease Prophylaxis, Diagnosis and Therapeutics<\/strong><\/p>\n

The area of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in Diagnostics and Therapeutics hosts research groups working in the design, synthesis, characterization, and evaluation of polymeric, lipidic, metallic, ceramic and hybrid nanomaterials for the prophylaxis, diagnosis and treatment of cancer, immune and infectious diseases, among others.<\/p>\n

With the GTIIT expansion, incorporation of other relevant research areas is planned in the future.<\/p>\n

Based on their academic and scientific record and qualifications, successful candidates will be appointed at the level of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor through one of the GTIIT Academic Programs (Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology and Food Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering, Physics, Chemistry) where they will fulfill their academic duties and be associated to the GTIIT \u2013 SEHM.  <\/strong><\/p>\n
