Overview

The fund supports postdoctoral research fellows to conduct innovative science research and publish academic monograph.

How to Apply

1. General Fund

1.1 The applicant should log in to the Postdoctoral Science Fund Management Information

System to download the application software; fill in Application Form for General Research Fund in Postdoctoral Science Foundation of China; upload the application form to the station-setting institution online and print the paper proposal.

1.2 The applicant should print the “Expert Recommendation Form” and give it to the cooperative tutor and experts in the same field.

1.3 The applicant should give the paper application form and “Expert Recommendation Form” in duplicate to the station-setting institution for examination.

2. Special Fund

2.1 The applicant should log in to the Postdoctoral Science Fund Management Information System to download the application software; fill in Application Form for Special Fund in Postdoctoral Science Foundation of China; upload the application form to the station-setting institution online and print the paper proposal.

2.2 The applicant should give two paper application forms and supporting documentation for scientific research achievements in duplicate to the station-setting institution for examination. The supporting documentation for scientific research achievements are not allowed to be submitted online.

3. Outstanding Academic Monograph Publishing Fund

1. The applicant should download and fill in the Application Form for Publication Funding for Postdoctoral Library and Information Form for Registration for Postdoctoral Library

2. The applicant should burn a CD of monograph in PDF format and mark the name of the applicant and monograph on the CD.

3. The applicant should entrust professional institutions to have duplicate checking and offer the report of the institution.

4. The applicant should send the CD and the duplicate-checking report to China Postdoctoral Science Foundation before the deadline and send the Information Form for Registration for Postdoctoral Library to chubanzizhu@126.com. The title of the email should be name of the postdoctoral research fellow+ name of the manograph.

4. Joint-Fund Program for Outstanding Postdoctoral Research Fellows

4.1      The applicant should log in to the Funding Hall in the webpage of China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, register, fill in the application form and submit the application form online; upload the materials for academic and science research, scanning copy of “Expert Recommendation Form” from the doctoral tutor and the cooperative tutor of the postdoctoral research and print 2 copies of the paper application form.  

4.2  The applicant should bind the identification documentation, application form, Expert Recommendation Form and academic and scientific research achievement materials in order into 2 books and give them to the station-setting institution.

Eligibility

1. General Fund

1.1 On-station postdoctoral research fellows

1.2 With high morality, high academic level and science research ability

1.3 The project should be fundamental, original and advanced, with science significance and application value and undertaken by the applicant himself/herself.

1.4 Expatriate personnel in “Postdoctoral International Communication Plan”, “China-Germany Postdoctoral Communication Project” and “Hong Kong Scholars Plan” cannot apply for the fund before ending the project. Research fellows continuing research in station-setting institution after finishing the overseas research work can apply for the fund but the station-setting institution should issue certificate.

2. Special Fund

2.1 Be on-station for at least 4 months

2.2 With distinguished scientific research achievements or prominent effect in achievement transformation.

2.3 With large potential and presentation of innovative ability during the research period on station.

2.4 The project should be with outstanding academic value or innovativeness.

2.5 The project can be the continuity and perfection of projects achieving General Fund of Postdoctoral Science Foundation of China but should be with innovative point or innovative achievements.

2.6 The station-setting institution and related province (city, area) or department should choose and recommend candidates.

2.7 Postdoctoral research fellows can be recommended first: receiver of General Fund of China Postdoctoral Science Foundation , National Natural Science Foundation, National Social Science Foundation and other funds; participating in “863” , “973”, National Knowledge Innovative Program and other major science projects; with above provincial science and technology award or academic title; introduced overseas-returning talents; academic or technical leaders or reserve talents mainly developed by the station-setting institution.

2.8 Each postdoctoral research fellow can only obtain the special fund once in each station and the fund would not be provided for postdoctoral research fellow leaving the station before the publication of the funding result.

2.9 Expatriate personnel in “Postdoctoral International Communication Plan”, “China-Germany Postdoctoral Communication Project” and “Hong Kong Scholars Plan” cannot apply for the fund before ending the project. Research fellows continuing research in station-setting institution after finishing the overseas research work can apply for the fund but the station-setting institution should issue certificate.

2.10 Personnel selected in “Postdoctoral Innovative Talent Supporting Project” and “Joint-Fund Project for Outstanding Postdoctoral Research Fellows” cannot apply again.

3. Outstanding Academic Monograph Publishing Fund

3.1 The applicant should be the only author of the submitted monograph.

3.2 The applicant should be postdoctoral research fellow on station for more than two years or off-station. Research fellows funded by China Postdoctoral Science Foundation would be given priority.

3.3 The disciplinary field of the monograph should be natural science.

3.4 The word count of the monograph should be no less than 150,000 words. The monograph should only be academic monograph, not including translated works, collection of research reports, academic materials, tool books and others.

3.5 Monographs in relevance with confidential information or military science are not allowed for application.

3.6 The author should apply for the fund after finishing all the drafts of the book.

4. Joint-Fund Project for Outstanding Postdoctoral Fellows

The applicant should be personnel going for postdoctoral research work in “Four Types of Institutions” in Chinese Academy of Sciences with the qualifications below:

4.1 With good scientific research potential and science ethics

4.2 Full-time doctors who have had doctor degree for no more than 3 years and newly graduate full-time doctors would be given priority.

4.3 Less than 34 years of age by the deadline.

4.4 Finish the initial selection of the postdoctoral cooperative tutor and have formed preliminary research plan with the tutor.

4.5 The selectees should transfer the personnel relation to the postdoctoral station-setting institution when completing station-entering procedures.

4.6 Overseas (Outside the border) personnel should promise to work full-time on the postdoctoral mobile stations for no less than 2 years.

4.7 Projects in relevance with confidential information or military science are not allowed for application.

4.8 Postdoctoral Innovative Talent Supporting Plan and Joint-Fund Project for Outstanding Postdoctoral Research Fellows cannot be both received by one person.

Award Size

1. General Fund: 80,000(80 thousand) Yuan for first prize; 50,000(50 thousand) Yuan for second prize and 50,000(50 thousand) Yuan for each person in “postdoctoral research fellows funding plan in western area”

2.     Special Fund: 150,000(150 thousand) Yuan for each person

3.     Outstanding Academic Monograph Publishing Fund: 50,000(50 thousand) Yuan for each monograph

4.     Joint-Fund Project for Outstanding Postdoctoral Research Fellows: 200,000(200 thousand) Yuan for each person.

Proposal Submission

1. General Fund

The applicant should give the paper application form and “Expert Recommendation Form” in duplicate to the station-setting institution for examination before September 8, 2017.

2. Special Fund:

The applicant should give two paper application forms and supporting documentation for scientific research achievements in duplicate to the station-setting institution for examination before March 10, 2017. The supporting documentation for scientific research achievements are not allowed to be submitted online.

3. Outstanding Academic Monograph Publishing Fund:

The applicant should send the CD and the duplicate-checking report to China Postdoctoral Science Foundation before March 31, 2017 and send the Information Form for Registration for Postdoctoral Library to chubanzizhu@126.com. The title of the email should be name of the postdoctoral research fellows+ name of the manograph.

4. Joint-Fund Project for Outstanding Postdoctoral Research Fellows:

The applicant should bind the identification documentation, application form, Expert Recommendation Form and academic and scientific research achievement materials in order into 2 books and give them to the station-setting institution before March 31, 2017.
