Peng Xu, associate professor of Chemical Engineering at Guangdong-Technion, Israel Institute of Technology. Dr. Xu obtained his BS/MS from Jiangnan University, and PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, completed his postdoc training in the Stephanopoulos lab at MIT, was a tenure-track Assistant Professor at University of Maryland from 2016 to 2020. He served on the editorial board for the journal Current Opinion in Biotechnology and Metabolic Engineering and is the associate editor for Process Biochemistry. As independent PI in the US, his lab was funded by National Science Foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and National Institute of Health (NIH). He has received the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Aboard, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Award, Biotechnology & Bioengineering Daniel IC Wang Award and Biochemical Engineering Journal Young Investigator Award and the NSFC Excellent Young Scholar Award (Oversea). His research covers metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, intelligent control, green manufacturing and biochemical engineering etc.
