Overview
The fund supports research team project, outstanding youth project, major basic research training project, key project, free application project, doctoral research project and innovative talents training project in Northwest Guangdong Province.
How to Apply
The applicant and the host institution should log in to Guangdong Science and Technology Business Management Sun-government Platform and complete the application online.
Eligibility
(1) The research team should be an outstanding group of scientists who are united, cooperative, innovative and complementary, and cross-department, regional and multidisciplinary research teams are encouraged.
(2) The applicant (coordinator) is the team’s first person responsible for coordinating the team’s research work. The coordinator shall not be over 55 years old(born after January 1, 1962), and the average age of the core members of the study team shall be less than 50 (academicians can be excluded in the calculation of the average age). Graduate students or postdoctoral candidates should not be the core member of the research team.
(3) The coordinator has the experience of presiding over the national or provincial fund project (the copy of the contract or item of the project should be uploaded on the Internet and attached to the paper material).
(4) The coordinator shall have advanced professional titles.
(5) The coordinator of the project of the provincial fund research team shall not be the coordinator of the research team in the same field again.
(6) Mathematics science and physics science are not subject to this project.
Outstanding Youth Project:
(1) The applicant should be under 35 (born after January 1, 1982) and have received a doctor degree or vocational title above vice senior.
(2) The applicant should have engaged in above provincial and ministerial level scientific research project, and should be recommended by two professionals with senior title from two different in-province institutions in relevant field. Doctoral degree certificate and a copy of the certificate of title in the online should be uploaded as attachment and the paper materials should be submitted at the same time.
(3) Applicant with one of the titles below cannot apply for outstanding youth project:
1. Receiver of National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation and National Outstanding Youth Science foundation.
2. Chief of the “973 Program”, “scholars of the Yangtze River”, “Pearl River scholars” and the national “one thousand talent plan” (including the state’s “youth thousand talent plan”).
3. Key project leader of National Natural Science Foundation;
4. Project coordinator for research team of Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong province;
5. Pearl River Talent Plan of Guangdong Province innovation and entrepreneurship team leaders or leading talents.
Major Basic Research Training Project
- The applicant should be employed research fellows under 55 (born after January 1, 1962) with high academic level and great credit.
- High-level academic leader and research teams are required and young and middle-aged professionals should be core members.
- The project should have clear science target, science topic in the frontier, innovative science content and practical research plan.
- The applicant institution should own a solid research base and platform, and priority would be given to research institutions with key experimental platforms in provincial, ministerial level and above.
(1) The content of the application should have once been supported by the national or provincial fund projects, have been concluded without pause and will achieve new progress or breakthrough.
(2) The applicant must have intermediate and above titles or doctor degree, and has chaired the national or provincial fund project (contract or project completion approval of a copy of the applicant has presided over the national or provincial foundation project in the online upload attachment and attached paper material to send)
(3) The applicant should be no more than 60 years old and is employed (born after January 1, 1957, except academicians);
- Free Exploration Project
Applicant should be with intermediate or above titles or have doctor degree, aged no more than 60 years old, and employed (born after January 1, 1957).
- Guangdong Basic Strategy and Management Research Project
Project applicant institutions and applicants should have been involved in the formulation of Guangdong science and technology development planning.
Doctoral Research Project
Free Application Project
(1) The applicant should be under 40 (born after January 1, 1977)
(2) The applicant should have had a doctor degree for no more than 3 years (based on the time of registration for the PhD degree certificate; applicants who graduate between January 1, 2014 and the application deadline should upload a copy of certificate of doctor’s degree online and submit the paper materials)
(3) The applicant should have never hosted projects in provincial or ministerial level or above;
(4) The applicant should have vocational title of vice senior and below;

Supporting Object: the pilot institutions who have applied for the National Fund Youth Science Foundation Project but not accepted.
Innovative Talent Training Project in Northwest Guangdong Province
Applicant institutions should be higher schools, research institutions and other institutions.

The pilot institution should complete the project recommendation work before December 30, 2016 and report to Provincial Science and Technology Department before January 10, 2017 after 5 days’ inner publicity.
