ISF-NSFC Joint Scientific Research Program
Eligibility: the applicant from Chinese side, they must possess an academic title of professor or associate professor and must be the PI of an on-going or 2023/3 completed NSFC research grant with a duration of more than 3 years.
The ninth round of submission will be in the fields of: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer sciences, Nanotechnology, and Earth sciences.
Funding scale: up to 46 projects will be sponsored with maximum 2 million for direct cost.
Project duration: 1 Jan 2024 – 31 Dec 2026.
English proposal: As agreed, NSFC and ISF will invite international evaluation experts to conduct communication evaluation on the English application submitted by the applicant through the Israeli online evaluation system. The Chinese applicant and the Israeli collaborator should fully communicate and jointly write an English proposal, and the Israeli collaborator should submit it to ISF on time.
The Israeli partner should complete the registration in the ISF system before 13:00 on February 14, 2023 (local time in Israel).
After completing the English application online, the Israeli partner will “lock” the application to generate a PDF file. Before submitting the file, a dialog box will pop up, prompting “Send Chinese applicant for confirmation”. After clicking “Agree”, the file will be automatically sent to the Chinese application in the form of email (with instructions and links).
The Chinese applicant can download the English application form by clicking this link. If you approve its content after reading, please click the “Check” button, and an email will be automatically sent to the Israeli partner to complete the confirmation. The confirmation of the Chinese applicant (that is, click Check) is a necessary condition for the Israeli partner to submit an application to ISF, otherwise the Israeli partner will not be able to submit an application. The Israeli partner shall submit the application to ISF before 13:00 (local time in Israel) on February 27, 2023, and will not be accepted if it is submitted late.
Chinese proposal: Chinese applicants must log in to the GRANTS Science Foundation Network Information System（ https://grants.nsfc.gov.cn/egrantweb/ ）, fill in and submit the Application for International (Regional) Cooperative Research Projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (i.e. “Chinese Application”) online. The specific steps are as follows
Select the “Project Leader” to log in to the system. After entering, click “Online Application” to enter the application interface. Click the “Add Project Application” button to enter the selection interface of the related field to which the application belongs. Click “Apply for the project of the general science department” to enter the project category selection interface. Click the +sign on the left side of “International (Regional) Cooperative Research Projects” or the “Expand” button on the right side to expand the drop-down menu. Click “Fill in Application” on the right side of “Inter organization Cooperative Research Projects” to enter the interface for selecting “Cooperation Agreement”, select “NSFC-ISF Project (China Israel)” from the drop-down menu, and then enter the approval number of the fund project to be relied on according to the system requirements. After passing the qualification certification, the specific Chinese application form filling interface will be entered.
The applicant shall ensure that the content of the Chinese application is consistent with that of the English application, and the English name of the project shall be completely consistent with that of the English application.
Attachment materials. The applicant shall upload the PDF version of the English application jointly written with the Israeli partner to the “Annex” column of the Chinese application and submit it together.
Cooperation Agreement. After the project is approved, the applicant must sign a cooperation agreement with the Israeli partner (see attached for the template)
The application period is from 20th Jan to 16:00 28th Feb, 2023. And the result will be announced in Dec, 2023.
