The applicant should hold a senior professional and technical position (title), and be no more than 45 years old [born on or after January 1, 1978]; Personnel applying for key projects in 2023 are not allowed to apply for this project as hosts, and members of the academic leadership group for theoretical physics funds are not allowed to participate in applying for this project.
Prioritize supporting the following 5 research directions:
- Research on the Origin of Time and Space and the Essence of Gravity
- Find algorithms that can demonstrate and directly verify quantum superiority
- New states and mechanisms of correlation and topological quantum systems
- Strange nuclear structures in open quantum systems and novel effects in heavy ion collision dynamics
- Theoretical research on the interaction properties of Neutrino and matter at different energy scales
The funding period is 4 years, and the funding intensity is 5 million yuan per project.

The purpose of such projects is to encourage inbound postdoctoral researchers engaged in theoretical physics research to carry out innovative research work and cultivate outstanding young scientific and technological innovation talents in the field of theoretical physics.
Application requirements: 1. Age not exceeding 35 years old (born on or after January 1, 1988), with experience in studying theoretical physics; 2. Full time doctoral graduates who have obtained a doctoral degree in the past three years and have entered the website to engage in research in theoretical physics and its interdisciplinary fields. The degree certificate date is after January 1, 2020 (including) (upload a copy of the doctoral degree certificate when applying, and indicate the title of the doctoral thesis and the name and research direction of the supervisor after entering the website in the front of the application form); Postdoctoral candidates who enter before September 30, 2023 and do not exit on December 31, 2024 must include their entry and estimated exit times in their resumes (applicants should upload electronic scanned copies of their on-site proof, indicating the entry and exit times); 4. The applicant should use the on-site unit as the supporting unit for the project to submit the application; 5. Those who have received funding from the Bo Xin Program or the National Natural Science Foundation of China’s research projects are not allowed to apply.
The funding period is one year, and the funding intensity is 180000 yuan per project.
(4) Workshop on Frontiers of Theoretical Physics
This kind of project is to set up a series of courses for young scholars of theoretical physics, systematically train basic theories, and help young scholars to deeply understand the frontiers of theoretical physics.
Application requirements: 1. The applicant has a senior professional and technical position (title); 2. The workshop needs to arrange two types of courses: systematic presentations and cutting-edge lectures, with a course duration of 2-3 weeks; 3. The application form should clearly provide the teaching outline, teaching content, and the list of proposed teaching teachers.
The funding period is one year, and the funding intensity is 400000 yuan per project.
(5) Theoretical Physics Culture and Communication Project
Funding for the publication of theoretical physics monographs and popular science works (translated works are not included in the funding). The publication fund aims to promote the development of theoretical physics research, enhance public understanding of theoretical physics, and increase the interest of middle school students, college students, and graduate students in theoretical physics, with the aim of providing assistance to senior college students, graduate students, and researchers engaged in theoretical physics work. The funding period is one year, and the funding intensity does not exceed 100000 yuan per project. The applicant should hold a senior professional and technical position (title). Continuously funding the Journal of Theoretical Physics Communications.
It funded the Peng Huanwu Forum on Theoretical Physics, promoted academic cooperation and exchanges among various fields within theoretical physics, broadened academic horizons, and strengthened cross cooperation between theoretical physics and mathematics, biology, astronomy, and applied disciplines. The Summer school for top physics students and basic theory elites will explore a new model for cultivating excellent theoretical physics talents for outstanding undergraduate students. The funding period is one year.
