Description: The Technion-Israel Institute of Technology is responsible for the academic management of this new university established in Shantou City, Guangdong Province, China http://www.gtiit.edu.cn/en. GTIIT follows the academic model of the campus in Haifa, Israel, dedicated to science and technology research and education. The language of instruction is English.

Tenure-track faculty positions for exceptional candidates are now available in the fields of condensed matter physics, atomic, molecular, and optical physics, plasma physics, cosmology, and astrophysics.

Those who have completed their doctoral studies are invited to pursue postdoctoral research in the Physics Department at GTIIT. Students in both the Master’s and PhD programs will be part of the Technion Graduate School. The majority of their research work will be conducted at the GTIIT campus in Shantou. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to attend graduate classes and utilize research facilities at the Technion campus in Haifa. Typically, this involves one semester in Haifa for a Master’s degree and two semesters for a PhD. Degrees will be awarded by Technion, Israel.


MSc: Master of Science (with a thesis)

The Master of Science degree (with thesis) generally spans two to three years, providing students with in-depth knowledge and expertise in a specific field. Students are required to complete coursework based on a specific program and to conduct research.

Study Requirements:

Holders of a four-year undergraduate degree must complete a total of 36-50 credit points (CP), including 20 CP dedicated to research. Departments may assign additional coursework for students requiring supplementary studies. Securing an advisor at GTIIT prior to registration is mandatory.

PhD: Doctor of Philosophy

PhD studies typically span three to four years and generally require full-time commitment at both Technion and GTIIT. Students focus primarily on research, participate in advanced seminars, and take courses designed through a personalised study program.

Coursework, candidacy exam, research, seminar presentation, dissertation writing, and defense are required. Departments may have additional requirements. Securing an advisor at GTIIT prior to registration is mandatory.
