GTIIT Changzhou Innovation Institute Officially Launched in Changzhou

Recently, the Launching Ceremony of GTIIT-Changzhou Innovation Institute (GCII), a joint establishment by GTIIT and China Israel Changzhou Innovation Park (CICP), was held in Changzhou. The launch of the Institute marked a new milestone in mutual cooperation between GTIIT and CICP, and also signified a starting point of China-Israel cooperation in science, technology and education.

Sheng Lei, Mayor of Changzhou City met with Prof. Uri Sivan, President of Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Chairman of GTIIT Board. The two sides held in-depth discussions.

Prof. Uri Sivan unveiled the GCII plaque with Dr. Jiang Pengju, Deputy Mayor of Changzhou City. Other leaders attending the launching ceremony included: Eytan Halon, Deputy Consul General of Israel in Shanghai; leaders from Changzhou City, Wujin District and CICP; Dr. Queena Yi, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT; Prof. Moshe Eizenberg, Dean of GTIIT Graduate Studies; GTIIT faculty and administrative representatives.

GCII aims to establish three innovation R&D centers focusing on new energy, smart manufacturing, and big healthcare. Additionally, it will work on joint cultivation of postgraduate students, funding and incubating high-quality seed research projects, building innovative cooperation mechanism, to provide a constant driving force for the high-quality and sustainable development of Changzhou City and eastern region of China.

“Changzhou is an innovative city known for its advancements in new energy, new materials and intelligent manufacturing, which coincide with the research directions of GTIIT. GCII can serve as a platform for promoting China-Israel technological cooperation,” said Prof. Moshe Eizenberg in his speech on the launching ceremony. He expressed his confidence in the development of GCII.

Prof. Xie Zuoti of MSE Program; Assoc. Prof. Jiang Youhua, Deputy Head of Mechanical Engineering Program; Assoc. Profs. Xu Peng, He Xuezhong, Wang Yan of Chemical Engineering Program; Assoc. Prof. Yigal Achmon of Biotechnology and Food Engineering Program, etc.
