Industry Collaboration: GTIIT Technology Showcased in the Yangtze River Delta
On September 11, Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) was invited to participate in the second “Jiangsu Conference for Industry-University-Research Cooperation and Exchange”. With the theme of “Promoting the Technology Transfer and Empowering Industrial Innovation and Development”, this conference held a series of 33 branch meetings in various cities in Jiangsu Province, bringing together more than 330 high-level experts from universities and more than 3,500 enterprises to promote the depth collaboaration between universities and industries, to improve the level of technology transfer and industrialization, providing strong support for high-level scientific and technological self-reliance. Xin Changxing, Provincial Secretary of the Jiangsu Party Committee; Chang Jin, Vice President and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and other leaders attended the conference.
Under the organization of Guangdong-Technion Technology & Entrepreneurship Center (GTEC), nine GTIIT faculties and students presented at the conference with their industry collaboration results, making full use of independent booths, keynote roadshows, university-enterprise exchanges, to demonstrate the booming scientific research strengths of GTIIT.

At GTIIT’s booth of the conference, representatives who attending the conference stopped to visit and praised the University’s achievements and scientific research capabilities. Representatives from numerous companies in related fields had actively exchanges with faculties and students from GTIIT who participated in the roadshow, gaining an in-depth understanding of the university’s profile, consulting on technical achievements, and discussing future collaboration intentions.
In Nanjing, Michael Lv, Director of GTEC, together with heads of innovation institutions at world-renowned universities such as the University of Oxford Innovation Center and the University of Sydney China Center, cut the ribbon for the opening of the T2+20 International Technology Service Transfer Institution Innovation Cooperation Network.

In Wuxi, Dr. Ch. Tahir Mehmood from GTIIT Chemical Engineering Program and Zeng Yuying, a PhD student from GTIIT Biotechnology and Food Engineering (BFE) Program participated in the green and low-carbon technology conference, introduced the University’s green and low-carbon related research results to the participants, and visited the only national-level enterprise named after the environmental protection industries in China: High-tech Zone China Yixing Environmental Protection Technology Industrial Park, Yixing Guohe Environmental Protection Innovation Base and Jiangsu Binuo Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. Among them, the research of Dr. Yigal Achmon, Associate Professor from GTIIT BFE Program focusing on utilization of food waste fermentation to generate energy and his technology for enhancing soil using food waste align seamlessly with Binuo Company’s industrial approach of using food waste as fertilizer for soil improvement across various environments. Both sides agreed to continue to conduct more in-depth discussions and research in this field.

In Lianyungang, Chen Liye from GTIIT BFE Program gave out a presentation with the title of “Soil Biosolarization——A Sustainable alternative to soil fumigation” at a conference.
In recent years, Jiangsu Province’s investment in innovation has continued to grow, with its innovation contribution and regional innovation capabilities ranking among the top in the country. GTIIT has deeply connected with Jiangsu Province, including jointly establishment of the research and innovation institute with China Israel Changzhou Innovation Park (CICP) strategic layout in Jiangsu, plans of regional collaboration in the fields of intelligent manufacturing, big health and new energy to create an international industry collaboration model. In the future, GTIIT will continue to promote high-quality regional collaboration, improve the level of transformation and industrialization of scientific and technological achievements, and provide strong support for building a high-level research university and serving social development.
