Changjiang Scholars Program

Overview

The fund supports outstanding scholars in higher education system.

How to Apply

Department of education in all cities should organize the application work and the universities should recommend candidates to the relevant departments.

Eligibility

1. Distinguished Professor and Chair professor Project

(1) The Distinguished Professor project is facing the national higher education institutions, and the Chair professor Project is implemented in universities in the mid-western regions and northeast china.

(2) Distinguished professors and chair professors should fulfill the basic conditions in Implementation Measures. The age limit for the Distinguished Professors in this project is: less than 45 years old (born after January 1, 1971) for candidates in natural science and engineering technology fields and less than 55 years old(born after January 1,1961) for candidates in social science field recommended by universities in eastern area; less than 55 years old (born after January 1, 1969) for candidates in natural science and engineering technology fields and less than 57 years old (born after January 1,1959) for candidates in social science field recommended by universities in mid-western and northeastern area.

(3) Candidates in national security and technology group should be working on national security science and technology research, undertaking major science research projects in national security field, obtaining prominent achievement and making great contribution.

(4) Current leaders in universities and selectees in employed period of young scholar projects should not be recommended; awardees in national “Thousand Talents Program” (except for youth project) are not subject to the supporting scope of this fund.

(5) The distinguished professor should lead to build an innovation team and the universities should provide necessary condition and major support.

2.Young Scholar Project

(1) Candidates in natural science and engineering technology field should be less than 38 years old (born after January 1, 1978); candidates in social science field should be less than 45 years old (born after January 1, 1971).

(2) Candidates should in general have doctor degree and work in the first line of teaching or research; domestic candidates should in general occupy vice senior and above professional technical positions.

(3) Current leaders in universities should not be recommended; awardees in national “Thousand Talents Program” are not subject to the supporting scope of this fund.

(4) Based on the real need of science and research work, the university should encourage and support young scholars to build innovation teams and provide necessary condition and major support.

Award Information

Project Duration: 5 years for Distinguished Professor; 3 years for Chair Professor; 5 years for Young Scholar

Award size: 200,000(200 thousand) Yuan for each person per year for distinguished professors; 30,000(30 thousand) Yuan for each person per month for chair professors to be paid by actual working time and 100,000(100 thousand) Yuan per year for each young scholar.

Proposal Submission

The materials and proposals should be completed and submitted online on Chang Jiang Scholar Application Management System (www.shenbao2017.changjiang.edu.cn) by the host institutions and should be in compliance with the paper materials. The host institution should upload the electronic version of the materials to the system before July 14, 2017 and the paper materials should be submitted to Science and Technology Development Center before July 21, 2017.
