Before you apply, it is important that you carefully select the research program that you want to apply for. Please contact an advisor prior to applying. You must also ensure that you fulfill of the entry requirements.

Your application should include the following documents:

MSc Application

  1. Official, signed Diplomas or confirmations of eligibility of former degrees (translated into English)
  2. Official, signed transcripts (GPA included) of each of the degrees (translated into English). 
  3. Applicants who have not yet graduated will send the current transcript.
  4. Curriculum vitae
  5. Ranking (relative place in class) from candidates who are not Technion graduates, if available
  6. GRE – For Mechanical Engineering applicants may require a wavier, must have a recommendation from the future advisor. Applicants for Mechanical Engineering from non English speaking countries might be required to take a TOEFL test instead . For the department of Chemistry, applicants might be required to take the GRE, depending upon the decision of the committee flowing the interview.

         Note: Candidates who have completed their studies at Technion/GTIIT are exempt from the GRE.

  1. Recommendations – 3 recommendations are required for Mechanical Engineering, one of them should be from the prospective advisor. 2 recommendations are required for: Chemical Engineering, Autonomous Systems and Robotics, Nano Science and Medicine. For Materials Science and Engineering, 1 recommendation is required.

    Note: It is suggested that applicants in all programs submit at least two letters of recommendation.

  2. Letter of intent is required for Mechanical Engineering.

PhD Application

  1. Official, signed Diplomas or confirmations of eligibility of former degrees (translated into English)
  2. Official, signed transcripts (GPA included) of each of the degrees (translated into English), including the grade and credits of the Master thesis.
  3. Applicants who have not yet graduated will send the current transcript.

  5. Ranking (relative place in class) from candidates who are not Technion graduates, if available

         Note: Candidates who have completed their studies at Technion/GTIIT are exempt from the GRE.

  1. Applicants for a PhD program are requested to provide two academic recommendation letters (one of them from the Master’s degree thesis advisor).

In addition, applicants for Mechanical Engineering will submit 4 recommendations: from the Master’s thesis advisor, from the future advisor and 2 additional academic recommendations. 
Note: Applicants who have studies toward their Master’s Degree at the Technion in the three years prior to applying, are exempt from this requirement for all programs except Materials Science and Engineering.

  1. Additional documents for Mechanical Engineering:

Letter of intent, thesis (PDF format), PhD research topic and proposal (3-5 pages) and papers (PDF) if published.

Make sure all your documents are in English and in PDF formats. Recommendation letters must bear the official letterhead of your referrer’s workplace and his/her signature.

Your application will be initially reviewed by your selected faculty member and the GTIIT department staff. We will check whether you meet all the requirements for registration. After reviewing the material, your application will be submitted to the GTIIT Graduate Studies Committee.

After approval by the GTIIT Graduate Studies Committee, your application file will be transferred to the Technion Graduate School (TGS). The TGS will contact you to complete the online application form and pay the application fee via the Graduate School website.

The TGS will review the application and send it to the relevant department. The department will submit their approval to the TGS.

Following approval by the TGS, the Graduate School will issue an official letter of acceptance.
