Notice on Application for Special Funding Program for Guangdong Science and Technology Innovation Strategic Projects in 2018

1. Funding allocation:

The special funding in 2018 will support the application of basic research, the basic research work conducted by public institutions and state-owned scientific research institutions, the construction of key laboratories of the province or departments, innovation platforms, science and technology regrading people’s livelihood, and the implementation of policies to benefit the people and the enterprises. Inclusive system and post-implementation granting method would be emphasized in this program.

2. Key tasks:

The capital investment method is a post-implementation granting method. The direction categories for implementation include:

1. Support major scientific and technological innovation platforms and laboratory

construction

Topic 1: Construction of Major Science and Technology Innovation Platform (No. 20180101)

It supports the construction of university or institutes and the collaborative innovation research institute of Shantou City. The host institution of the construction project shall sign a joint construction agreement with the Shantou Municipal Government, and the funding for project shall not exceed 8 million yuan. The funds should be managed by the host institution to be used for scientific research capacity building and operation.

Topic 2: Laboratory Construction (No. 20180102)

It supports provincial laboratory research and construction of key laboratories of the province, the research work of key laboratories of the provincial and municipal departments. Each key laboratory can submit one project, and each project would be provided a total amount of no more than 400,000 yuan (400 thousand). It supports the construction of the laboratory in Longhu District. The total funding of the project shall not exceed 1 million yuan, and the district government shall invest no less than 1:1 for matching funds. The funds should be managed by the host institution to be used for scientific research.

2.  Support the cultivation of national and provincial natural foundation projects

Topic 1: National and Provincial Natural Fund Project Development (No. 20180201)

It supports the national and provincial natural fund projects submitted in year 2016 and 2017 that have not been approved but ranked in the leading group and recommended by their institutions. Each project would be provided with 50,000 yuan (16 projects would be supported and selected among the higher education institutions in Shantou; 4 would be selected and supported from municipal institutions). The funds shall be managed by the host institution to be used for scientific research.

2. Application Method:

The application would be conducted through the science and technology management system of Shantou: http://pro.sti.gd.cn . The applicants can contact host institution to help open an account to complete the personal information and conduct application.

After the application form is submitted online and approved by the science and technology management department, it should be printed in one copy and submitted to the science and technology management department.

3. Application Time:

The online submission should be completed during September 10 – September 16, 17:00. The deadline for review and recommendation for the management departments is September 18, 17:00.
