Dr. Hongkai Liu received his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Pittsburgh in 2021. From July 2021 to June 2024, he worked as a postdoc at the Technion. From August 2024 to July 2026, he was a postdoc at Brookhaven National Laboratory in the United States.
Despite the remarkable successes of the Standard Model (SM) in explaining and predicting a wide range of experimental observations, several fundamental questions remain unanswered. For instance, the origin of neutrino masses and why they are significantly smaller compared to other fermions in the SM is still unknown. Additionally, we do not know the nature of dark matter (DM), the origin of baryon asymmetry in the universe, and why the neutron electric dipolemoment is so tiny. To find answers to those fundamental questions, Dr. Hongkai Liu’s research is currently focused on neutrino physics, dark matter, collider phenomenology, Effective Field Theory, and scattering amplitudes. He has a wide range of interests from nuclear physics to cosmology as well.
