• "This course explores major events and turning points in the history of Western civilization from bronze-age cultures in Western Asia and the Mediterranean to the formation of European nation states and empires in the early modern period. It investigates the religious, intellectual, and scientific foundations of modern Western society, such as the concept of Monotheism, Greek philosophy, Humanism, and Democracy. Throughout the course, students will read primary and secondary sources and will be aquatinted with the historical method of inquiry."
