Chapter 1 General Provisions

Article 1. To ensure the smooth running of the admissions progress and earnestly protect the legitimate rights and interests of students and GTIIT, these regulations were formulated in accordance with the Education Law of the People's Republic of China, the Higher Education Law of the People's Republic of China, the Implementation Opinions of the State Council on Deepening Reforms to the Student Examination and Admission System (No. 35 [2014] of the State Council), Notice of the Ministry of Education on Effectively Conducting Student Recruitment for 2017 in Regular Higher Educational Institutions (No. 1 [2017] of the MOE), the provisions made by Guangdong Province on the admissions and the actual situation of GTIIT.

Article 2. GTIIT follows the principles of "fair competition, fair selection, transparent procedures, overall evaluation on moral characters, intelligence and physique, comprehensive appraisal and merit-based selection” to conduct the recruitment and accepts the supervision of the Discipline Inspection Department, students, parents and the community.

Article 10. Enrolled at GTIIT and obtaining their identity as an undergraduate according to the national admissions regulations, students who get required credits within the prescribed time limit and meet requirements for graduation shall be issued with a Certificate of Graduation of Guangdong Technion- Israel Institute of Technology. Both Technion- Israel Institute of Technology and Guangdong-Technion Israel Institute of Technology will award undergraduates who have satisfied all the conditions prescribed a Bachelor’s degree and a degree certificate.


Chapter 3 Organizational Structure and Responsibilities

Article 11. An Admissions Committee comprising the heads of departments and GTIIT management is established to take overall responsibility for carrying out the admissions regulations and provisions made by the Ministry of Education and Admissions Office in relevant provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions), formulating admissions regulations, policies and detailed implementation rules, deciding the enrollment scale, allocating intake for programs, guiding and supervising the recruitment process as well as coordinating and handling major issues in the recruitment process.

Article 12. The Admissions Office of GTIIT is the executive arm of the Admissions Committee Its main duties include formulating intake plans, organizing publicity for recruitment, conducting enrollment and dealing with routine undergraduate recruitment issues.

Article 13. An Appealing Committee comprising GTIIT management and the Discipline Inspection Department will be set up to take responsibility for supervising admissions work and handling petition and complaints in the process of recruitment.


Chapter 4 Intake Plan

Article 14. Intake plan and program allocation for different provinces as well as detailed requirements will be announced in the Program Catalogue issued by the Admissions Office of provinces.

Article 15. Guangdong students shall apply for GTIIT in common tier universities. Students out of Guangdong shall refer to the admissions documents issued by relevant Provincial Admissions Offices when submitting the application.

Article 16. GTIIT reserves no more than 1% of the total intake plan to adjust the imbalance of the application in different provinces and make the quota meet.


Chapter 5 Admission Rules

Article 17. GTIIT implements the MOE’s provision of "The university takes responsible; the Admissions Office exercises supervision" and strictly follows relevant provisions and policies of the Ministry of Education and the Provincial Admissions Offices. Based on Gaokao scores, the recruitment is conducted on a fair, equal, transparent and merit-based principle and an overall evaluation on morality, intelligence, physique and aesthetics.

Article 18. To ensure that the entry scores will be higher than the cut-off line for first tier universities or cut-off line for common tier universities specified by the Provincial Admissions Offices and that the intake plan will be completed, detailed admissions rules are formulated and selection will be among science/physics students only.

Article 19. GTIIT sets and adjusts the ratio by referring to the application. The ratio between the files received and the intake is generally set between 100% and 120%. For some provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) with “parallel choices” in the application, the ratio can be further adjusted in accordance with regulations of Provincial Admissions Offices and the actual application situation.

Article 20. With reference to the candidates’ Gaokao scores and application, the enrollment will be conducted on the merit-based principle when applicants pass the moral assessment and health examination, meet the cut-off line and satisfy the provisions prescribed by GTIIT.

Article 21. For the allocation of programs, priority goes to the candidates with higher Gaokao scores. In the case that candidates have the same Gaokao scores, Science scores will be prioritized in the reference, followed by Mathematics scores and English scores. With this merit-based principle, students with higher scores will be admitted to the program which is his first choice. If the first choice is finished, his other choices, by preference, will be considered. If a candidate fails to be admitted to any of the programs he applies for and his files indicates that he agrees to switch to any other programs, GTIIT will consider admitting him to other programs available by referring to the total Gaokao scores and scores he gets in each subject. Candidates will be rejected if the file indicates he refuses to switch programs.

Article 22. As all programs are taught entirely in English and require basic math foundation, applicants are required to get a score of 100 (out of 150) or above for English and a score of 75 (out of 150) or above for Math.

To be admitted by the program of Mathematics with Computer Science, applicants are required to get a score of 100 (out of 150) or above for English and a score of 85 (out of 150) or above for Math.

For applicants from Shanghai, the requirement in score of English could be waived but that of Math remains.

Article 23. Requirements on the Grades in the High School Achievement Test shall follow the policies issued by Provincial Admissions Offices. Requirements on elective subjects in Gaokao are listed below and will be subject to the Program Catalogue issued by the Admissions Office of Provinces.

Article 24. Following relevant policies by the Provincial Admissions Offices, GTIIT recognizes the bonus points awarded to suitable candidates.


Chapter 6 Criteria on Physical Conditions

Article 25. The criteria on physical conditions is based on the Guiding Opinions on Physical Conditions of Students in Regular Higher Educational Institutions and Notice of Canceling the Examination on HBV in the Health Examination for Admissions (No. 2 [2010] of the MOE), which were jointly issued by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and The Disabled Association of China.

Article 26. According to the Guiding Opinions on Physical Conditions of Students in Regular Higher Educational Institutions and Notice of Canceling the Examination on HBV in the Health Examination for Admissions jointly issued by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and The Disabled Association of China, health examination is required for freshmen upon enrollment. If a student’s health report indicates that the physical conditions cannot meet the criteria or cannot satisfy the requirement of the program, he/she will be rejected or transferred to other program in accordance with provisions on student identity.


Chapter 7 Tuition Fees and On-campus Housing

Article 27. Tuition and on-campus housing will be charged in accordance with the documents issued by the Guangdong Price Bureau and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education. The tuition fee will be 95,000 RMB per person per year and accommodation fee 600 per person per year. The fees will be subjected to the final approval of the authorities.


Chapter 8 Financial Aid Policy

Article 28. GTIIT provides freshmen with entry scholarships and financial supports, details of which can be referred to in implementation measures issued by GTIIT.

Article 29. Decisions on the scholarships and financial support are made with reference to the academic performance in GTIIT and the granting will be based on relevant provisions on scholarships and financial aids made by the Ministry of Education, the Provincial Department of Education and GTIIT.

Chapter 10 Supplementary Provisions

Article 32. These Regulations which were reviewed and approved at the GTIIT management meeting shall apply to GTIIT’s recruitment of undergraduates from Mainland China in 2022 and they are hereby issued and shall come into force on the date of issuance.

Article 33. The power of interpretation of the Regulations shall be vested by the Admissions Committee of GTIIT. The state and provincial provisions shall prevail in the case of any inconsistency between these Regulations and the state or provincial provisions.
