• "This course follows the early origins of Western Civilization from the first agricultural societies in Western Asia during the fourth millennium BC to the early formation of European states and the rise of Islam in the seventh century AD. It covers the great empires of the ancient world and introduces foundational texts, ideas, and beliefs that continued to shape and influence Western civilization in the following millennia. During the course, students will learn about the method of historical research and will be acquainted with analytical concepts in understanding the broad meanings of historical change and continuity."
