Shennan and Feitong were invited to share with us their preparation and thoughts about attending the Contests.

Shennan: “For the competition in this year, I think there are a lot of changes comparing to the last one. This year, we presented ourselves in front of the audience in the stage, so it would be more difficult than last year, but it helped me a lot as well. After the competition, I found myself more confident at any sort of things, because when you are on the stage and giving a speech, the most important thing is just about your attitude, that is, confidence. I believe when dealing with challenges in our daily life, we need to have the faith and confidence for ourselves.”

Feitong is a Cohort 2023 freshman in GTIIT, but she has already shown her ability in English.

After winning 2 prizes from both the Reading and Writing Contests, she said: “The contest is undoubtedly a way to prove my capability and improve my English level. To prepare for it, I went through the mock tests on the official website of the Contests and carefully analyzed the argumentative essays written by previous winners. In addition, I enlarged my vocabulary and knowledge base accordingly. For instance, I never heard of the concept ‘logical fallacy’ before. In order to make up for my deficiency, I studied all kinds of logical fallacies on my own by reading online materials. My test-taking skills and writing ability had been improved through this experience.

At last, Feitong also thanked GTIIT for providing this precious opportunity to allow students to show their talents.
