On a sunny Sunday, May 18, 2025, GTIIT was filled with excitement as it hosted its first-ever swimming competition. The event was organized by Shantou Yongbao Sports Company, led by the instructor of the GTIIT swimming class and head coach of the GTIIT swimming team.

The competition attracted an impressive group of 50 participants, representing a diverse mix of the GTIIT community. Students, staff, faculty, and even family members gathered at the university's state-of-the-art 50-meter swimming pool to showcase their skills and enjoy a day of fun, fitness, and sportsmanship.

With cheers echoing across the venue, the event was officially opened by Prof. Moris S. Eisen, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, who delivered an enthusiastic speech to encourage all participants.

The competitive events included:

Men’s & Women’s 100m Breaststroke: This category featured the highest number of participants. The event tested swimmers’ strength, timing, and technique in this challenging stroke. Participants were divided into five male groups and one female group.

Boys’ & Girls’ 100m Breaststroke: Young competitors impressed the crowd with their determination and skill. Five children of different ages participated with great effort and spirit.

Men’s & Women’s 100m Freestyle: Swimmers demonstrated their speed and agility, many of them pushing themselves to achieve personal bests.

Boys’ & Girls’ 100m Freestyle: The younger swimmers in this category showed excellent coordination and enthusiasm, highlighting the emerging swimming talent in the GTIIT community. The audience cheered them on with excitement.

400m Freestyle (No Age Limit): Open to all age groups, this long-distance event tested endurance and mental resilience. One of the most memorable moments was the performance of an 8-year-old girl who placed second in this demanding race.

At the conclusion of each event, medals and awards were presented by:

Prof. Eli Aljadeff, Chancellor of GTIIT

Ms. Revital Cohen, Head of the Sports Unit

The first GTIIT swimming competition was not only a celebration of athletic talent but also a powerful demonstration of unity and community spirit. It brought together students, staff, and families in an atmosphere of support, achievement, and joy.
