On June 7, 2025, GTIIT hosted its annual Ping Pong Tournament, the final sports event of the Spring 2025 semester. The event brought together 18 enthusiastic participants, including both students and faculty members.

The tournament began at 2:00 PM, with participants gathering eagerly in the Ping Pong room. GTIIT Ping Pong Team coach Xiao Ling oversaw the entire process from registration to organizing the rules and drawing lots. The 18 players were divided into four groups, competing in a round-robin format. This structure ensured that each participant had the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and strategies against a variety of opponents.

Following the group stage, the top players advanced to the knockout rounds. The competition grew more intense as the stakes rose. Each match tested both physical ability and mental agility, with players needing to quickly adapt to different styles of play. The rhythmic sound of ping pong balls echoed throughout the hall, punctuated by cheers from the crowd for particularly impressive rallies.

The final match was the highlight of the day. Pengyu Cheng, a freshman known for his lightning-fast reflexes and precise shots, faced off against Yuhong Chen, a master’s student whose experience and strategic thinking made him a strong contender. The match was a nail-biter, with both players displaying exceptional skill and determination. Ultimately, Pengyu's aggressive style and consistency led him to victory, earning him the championship title.

As the tournament concluded, the atmosphere was filled with celebration and camaraderie. The winners received their trophies from:

Ms. Revital Cohen, Head of the Sports Unit

Prof. Xuezhong He, Chemical Engineering Program

Mr. Michael Lv, Director of GTEC

The GTIIT Ping Pong Tournament 2025 was more than just a sports event, and it was a celebration of community, spirit, and shared passion. It brought together students and faculty in friendly competition, fostering new connections and lasting memories.
