2025 GTIIT Education Fair: 17 Global Universities Gather to Share Study-Abroad Insights

On October 25, 2025, the fourth GTIIT Education Fair was held at the Auditorium of GTIIT South Campus, bringing together 17 universities and international programs to share the latest admissions information and in-depth guidance on overseas studies with students and parents. Covering topics such as application timelines, document preparation, and academic profile enhancement, the event offered first-hand, practical insights for students preparing to pursue graduate education abroad.

Organized by the UG Career and Learning Center (CLC) with promotional support from the School of International Education of Shantou University, the fair attracted around 400 participants from both GTIIT and Shantou University. The program combined admissions presentations, themed panel discussions, and booth consultations to promote both information sharing and perspective-building.

Program Highlights

The afternoon featured three themed roundtables and a series of two-minute admissions presentations (14:00–15:30), followed by booth consultations (15:30–17:30). Participating institutions included: TUM Asia, National University of Singapore, Northeastern University, EIT InnoEnergy, University of Rochester, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Illinois Institute of Technology, Saint Louis University, University of Wollongong, University of Nottingham Ningbo China, Duke Kunshan University, Wenzhou-Kean University, NYU Shanghai, CEIBS Global Master in Management, Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, and Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology & Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.

What Admissions Officers Emphasized

Three roundtable themes were discussed during the event:

1. Application planning and multi-country strategies. Speakers advised students to track timelines carefully (some programs open as early as October for the following September intake), tailor materials to each program's requirements and align choices with academic interests and career goals, rather than with geography alone. Practical tips included building a comparison sheet for requirements, deadlines, curricula, costs, and scholarships, and customizing personal statements by country and program focus.

2. How decisions are made & how to stand out. Panelists reiterated that undergraduate GPA remains the central indicator of academic readiness. Even when optional, strong GRE/GMAT scores can still add value. Personal statements and recommendation letters should demonstrate program fit and offer authentic insight from referees who know the applicant well. For competitive fields (e.g., robotics), presenters suggested aiming for higher standardized scores and maintaining a “safety-net” program. Relevant internships—especially for business and finance—were highlighted as important differentiators. 

3. Employment trends in China and abroad. Speakers noted strong and resilient career opportunities for early-career graduates, particularly in hard-tech sectors aligned with national priorities. Students were encouraged to build hands-on ability, embrace cloud/AI tools to boost learning and work efficiency, and leverage for-credit internships, alumni networks, and career services to strengthen competitiveness, whether they plan to stay abroad or return home. Strong language skills remain crucial for overseas job searches.

On-Site Engagement

At the consultation booths, students and parents engaged with admissions representatives to learn about program features, selection preferences, internship opportunities, and scholarship options—benefiting from face-to-face conversations that went far beyond what any website could convey. The lively exchanges helped many participants clarify their application goals and gain a clearer understanding of emerging study-abroad trends.

As a cross-campus initiative uniting institutions, educators, and families, the GTIIT Education Fair is more than just an information session—it serves as a platform for growth, inspiration, and meaningful connection. 

Moving forward, UG Career and Learning Center will continue to build open, professional, and globally oriented platforms that support students in academic planning and career development, and encourage them to take an active role in future programs and events.
